Sometimes a person thinks about taking their life because they are feeling very sad, lonely, or like life is too hard. They may feel like no one understands them or like their problems will never end. It doesn’t mean they are bad or weak, it means they are hurting inside.

Feeling sad, lonely or like life is too hard can be overwhelming, but they should not lead someone to take their lives. In as much as life can be challenging, we are strong and are capable of overcoming the challenges we face. Remember this: We are all capable of doing way more that we think we can.

If you ever feel this way, please don’t keep it to yourself. Talk to someone you trust like a teacher, parent, your school counsellor or even a trusted friend. Say, “I’m not okay, and I need help.” You are not alone, and people want to help you feel better. Talking is the first step to healing.

Please remember that your life matters and you will get through the challenges you are facing. Even when it feels heavy now, things can and will get better.

When the weight inside becomes heavier than what’s outside, the mind can crumble in silence.”

Suicide, including by hanging, often happens when a person feels completely overwhelmed by emotional pain and sees no other way out
Some feel like no one would care if they died, or they feel like a burden to others, or they feel useless, or they feel they made mistakes in life..

Check on your friends: A “how are you really doing?” can save a life.

Encourage professional help: Mental health is health.

Never judge people for their pain. Sometimes they just need a listener, not a fixer.

If you are struggling, talk to someone — a teacher, counselor, religious leader, or even a suicide helpline.

Depression can make someone feel like life is not worth living. Instead of thinking of suicide, you are advised to reach out to someone, either a friend, counselor or suicide help line. You can also visit any hospital for help. We should not feel ashamed of feeling low or depressed. We should instead seek help. Remember, all problems come to an end. No problem lasts forever and you can certainly outlast, all those problems!
