Hello, can you believe I once scored 28% in mathematics 😂, when I was in form 3….
Remember, success is not for those who give up— it’s for the consistent and curious!, just be consistent in your studies, I used to really dedicate my time in revision, and avoided any distractions like sleep, relationships, etc
I would recommend these practical steps.
1. Set daily goals on what you want to study. This starts with having a timetable on what you want everyday, and I would recommend that at the beginning of each week, identify the topics you want to study in that week. Then at the end of each week, reflect on whether you have covered and understood what you intended to cover that week, then set goals for the next week.
2. Revise every day. Don’t wait for exams. Note that this is different from point 1: point 1 is on studying different topics every week, point 2 is about going through what you have learnt that day to be sure that you understood the concepts. After classes, spend some good time reviewing what you learned that day. This helps your brain remember things better. Learning is cumulative, so make sure you understand all that you were taught in a particular day so the next day, you can follow what is taught.
3. Ask when you don’t understand. If a teacher explains something and you’re confused, raise your hand and ask. There is absolutely no shame in asking. It helps you learn. This also extends to your fellow classmates, if you did not understand a particular concept in class, ask your fellow classmate to explain it to you over breaktime. Equally, make it a habit to explain concepts to your fellow classmates. This helps you know whether you have actually understood. Remember, teaching helps you remember and reinforces what you know.
