  There is no such thing as failed research because in every attempt to know something, new knowledge is gained on what works and what does not work. What could be deemed as failure is when trying to make a new object or discover something and you have not yet accomplished your goals. But all research is exciting. You enjoy the journey as much as the destination.

  I once tried to use a toxic compound of a bacteria to predict a vaccine against the same bacteria. The project did not proceed because my team was unresponsive. I consider that a failed project not because the science was not doable but because I didn’t the right people.
